Arkhangelsk kozuli is a traditional craft of creating painted gingerbread cookies with rich symbolism and patterns. Working with dough and painting allows for the creation of decorative items that reflect the traditions and festive culture of the northern region.
Nadezhda and Konstantin Egorov
We are a family workshop united by a love of northern traditions and folk culture.
My name is Nadezhda, and I am a music and movement teacher by profession. In 1991, I began working at a children's folklore club with my own program for young children, based on folk tales and holidays from the folk calendar.
It was then that I developed a passion for traditional northern baked goods—kozuli. At first, it was part of my work and the study of folk culture, but over time, the craft became a true passion. At the same time, I received a folklore education, developed my own programs, spent a lot of time at the public library, and attended courses at the ethnographic museum, gathering knowledge about northern traditions and culture.
I've been baking kozuli for over 30 years. Gradually, my husband joined in this beloved craft, and over time, the workshop became our shared family business. Since 2010, we have been working in Mandrogi, continuing to preserve and pass on the traditions of northern crafts.
