Neonila Shklyar
My name is Neonila. I have been engaged in weaving all my life, and I have been working in the village of Mandrogi for more than 20 years. She received her education at the Art School of Folk Crafts, specializing in Weaving.
In my work, I use various traditional devices and techniques: a loom, a birdo, and weaving on planks. I use the machine to create rugs, handbags and other products using strips of fabric. Napkins, panels of herbs and decorative items are woven on the bird, and traditional belts, which have long been an important part of folk costume, are on the plaques.
Weaving is one of the most ancient crafts. Since ancient times, a woven cloth has been associated with a road, a life path and a connection between generations. That is why a living continuity of traditions is especially felt in the weaving workshop, which cannot be conveyed in words - you need to see and feel it yourself.
